Abyss Cressets missing from the map? Check your map filter first
Activated Abyss Cressets no longer showing up on the map or working as teleports? One unticked box in the map filter hides them all. Here's what to check.
Steps
- Open the world map filter. Open the map and go to its filter options, where you can choose which kinds of icon are shown.
- Make sure Abyss Cressets is ticked. If the Abyss Cressets entry is turned off, every cresset vanishes from the map, including ones you've already unlocked. Turn it back on.
- If one is still missing, check it was actually unlocked. Some cressets activate when you reach them and take the artifact. Others only open after you solve a puzzle nearby. Check the Challenges section of the menu to see whether that location is marked as complete.
The problem: several Abyss Cressets (the upright stone pedestals you unlock after a puzzle or by reaching a high point) suddenly aren’t on your map and don’t seem to work for fast travel. Some of them you unlocked months ago, and a few are on top of rock stacks that should have activated the moment you got there.
What fixed it: it was the map filter. The player who asked had turned off a lot of map icons to clear the map while looking for missing commission quests. When they turned everything back on, they missed the Abyss Cressets box, so all the cressets stayed hidden. Ticking it again fixed it. Another player in the thread said they’d done the same thing and that it happens more often than you’d think.
Good to know
- If you’ve been changing map filters for any reason, check this before assuming your save is bugged.
- If the filter is fine and one cresset is still missing, the thread’s other advice applies. Make sure you looted the artifact, and check for a puzzle nearby that has to be solved first.
