Focused Force Palm not appearing at the crystal wall near Scholastone
No vision at the crystal rock wall near Scholastone and no way to learn Focused Force Palm? It's not a bug. The skill is locked behind the Forbidden Knowledge quests.
Steps
- Check whether you've reached Forbidden Knowledge. The vision that teaches Focused Force Palm only shows up once you're on the Forbidden Knowledge main quests. Players on Steam said it won't appear without the quest, even if you stand right at the wall.
- Keep going with the main story. Forbidden Knowledge starts with The Words of Alustin, when Alustin sends you a letter about Scholastone. One player listed the quests before it as the Mysterious Pot quests (Kilndren Workshop, Kiln Repair at the Workshop, The Mysterious Pot, The Pot's Use) and Daily Life (Disturbance at the Arena, Skilled in Archery).
- Look for the scholar uniform. On the right quest, you're given a scholar uniform so you can blend in at Scholastone. If you don't have one yet, you haven't reached the part that unlocks the skill.
- Go back to the crystal wall and watch the vision. Once the quest is active, return to the crystal rock wall on the road to Scholastone. A player who never had trouble with it said that as long as they had the quest, the vision always appeared.
The problem: you’ve found the shimmering crystal rock wall on the way to Scholastone, but no vision plays, nothing teaches you Focused Force Palm, and the only way past is to climb over it or ride around. Verifying game files doesn’t help, and trying to learn the skill from the skill tree just says you can’t learn it that way.
What’s going on: the skill isn’t bugged, it’s locked behind the story. Two players in the Steam thread said the vision simply isn’t there until you have the quest. The player who asked confirmed the other signs matched: they had no scholar uniform, no quest pointing them to Scholastone, and the kiln explosion quest hadn’t started yet. Other visions worked fine for them, which is a good hint that you’re early rather than broken.
Clearing Fort Perwin isn’t enough
Some guides say you unlock the vision by finishing the House Roberts quests and beating the Red Nightmare at Fort Perwin. The player in the thread had already done all of that, went back to the wall 5 to 10 times at different times of day, and still saw nothing. What was missing was the Forbidden Knowledge quest itself.
Good to know
- You can’t buy it with Abyss Artifacts. Unlike most skills, Focused Force Palm is only learned from the vision.
- The order isn’t strict in other places. As one player put it, Crimson Desert often shows you places before you’re meant to be there. If something seems missing, keep doing main quests and come back later.
- Stuck on the letter that starts the chain? If Alustin’s letter vanished from your inventory, see The Words of Alustin stuck.
