Hernandian contribution points not going up? Sell back what you bought

Can't earn more Hernandian contribution points? At reputation 100 they stop rising. Sell items you bought with points back to the vendor to get them back.

Steps

  1. Check your Hernand reputation. If it's already at 100, freeing hostages, liberating strongholds and doing side quests won't give you any more contribution points. That's what was happening to the player who asked.
  2. Find gear you bought with contribution points. Look for anything you bought with Hernandian points earlier and no longer need.
  3. Sell it back to the right vendor. Ordinary merchants won't take these items. One player said you have to sell them to the vendor you bought them from. The asker managed it at the Scholastone Institute.
  4. Buy what you were saving for. That's how the asker got around the cap. In the thread they were saving for the Hernandian Signet, which costs 65 points.

The problem: you need a few more Hernandian contribution points, often for the Hernandian Signet that a Life challenge asks for, but nothing you do in Hernand raises them. The player who asked had 49 points, needed 65, and had already tried rescuing hostages, liberating strongholds and doing side quests.

What’s going on: your Hernand reputation tops out at 100. Once you’re there, more activities don’t give you more points. The asker confirmed that was their situation. They got the points by selling items they’d bought with contribution points, and they had to sell them at the Scholastone Institute because other merchants wouldn’t buy them.

Things players disagree on

  • Lowering your reputation. One player suggested dropping your reputation on purpose (by stealing or attacking people) so it can climb again. Another replied that this doesn’t work: points you’ve earned stay earned, and going down to 50 and back up to 100 doesn’t give you any extra.
  • Church donation boxes. Someone suggested donating silver at a church. Another player said the donation box only adds to your camp fund and doesn’t give contribution points.
  • Bugs. One player said a bug has stopped their reputation from rising at all, even on a new save. If you’re well below 100 and still not earning anything, this may be what’s happening to you. The thread has no fix for it.
